PENNSBURY DRAMA

International Thespian Troupe #830

Open to all students, Pennsbury Drama offers a full year of theatrical productions for both actors and technicians. Activities are held year-round as needed per production and include the fall drama, PA State Thespian Conference, the spring drama, Dessert Theater, DramaFest, A Night of One-Acts (usually student-directed one act plays) and the International Thespian Conference. The commitment is most days after school to rehearse for any upcoming production.  For dedicated students, there is the opportunity to earn service points during productions to become a member of Pennsbury’s Thespian Troupe #830, an Honor Society for the Dramatic Arts.

The International Thespian Society (ITS) is an honor society for high school and middle school theatre students. It is a division of the Educational Theatre Association. Thespian troupes serve students in grades 9-12; Junior Thespian troupes serve students in grades 6 through 8.  A few famous ITS alumni include Tom Hanks, Val Kilmer, James Marsters, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Stephen Schwartz. Festivals are held annually at the state and national levels. Each June the International Thespian Festival is held at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. There are currently troupes in 5 countries and over 2.4 million Thespians have been inducted since its founding in 1929.
